I am a huge fan of whipped sugar scrubs. They not only exfoliate your skin, but also cleanse and moisturize all in one easy step and I don't know about you but I love a good multi use product. Also, whipped sugar scrubs are easy to make, regardless of your DIY experience, and it's a pretty affordable project too. Since we are coming into Summer, I thought it would be fun to do a citrus twist on my sugar scrub recipe.
To bring home the citrus theme, the scrub is scented with Lemon essential oil which has a bright uplifting smell and is also a great oil for cleansing the skin. I also use dried lemon peel for one of the exfoliants and a touch of yellow mica for color. I hope you will give making this scrub a try and that you love it as much as I do. Your skin will definitely thank you for it:)
For this recipe you will need:
6oz White Sugar or Sugar of Choice
To Make:
Add your foaming bath butter base, sugar, lemon peel and colorant to a mixing bowl.
Next add in your sweet almond oil, Optiphen plus, lemon essential oil and vitamin e oil.
Now whip everything together for 8-10 minutes using the whisk attachment on your stand mixer. If you do not have a stand mixer, you can use a hand mixer but the whipping time may increase. I check the mixture every 2 minutes or so and scrap down the sides to make sure everything is incorporated.
Once your mixture has approximately doubled in size it is ready.
Pipe or spoon mixture into an airtight container such as a bail jar or mason jar and then your sugar scrub is ready to use, gift or sell.
To Use:
Place a small amount of the scrub onto your fingers and the apply to skin. Then rinse. You will be amazed at how soft your skin will feel after using this scrub!
