If you are like me and trying to get into a better exercise routine you may also know the sore muscle pain that can sometimes come with new fitness goals. Sore muscles aren't necessarily a bad thing as they remind you of the importance of not pushing your body too far at one time, but they are indeed a pain ;)
I have a warming muscle rub recipe that I love that I typically use when I have over done it or am just sore for no good reason, but wanted to try a menthol version and I think it might be my new favorite.
The cooling sensation of the menthol really goes a long way in helping calm down over worked muscles. Pair this with Marjoram, which is an antispasmodic, Eucalyptus which has anti inflammatory properties and Peppermint's cooling sensation and your muscles will be thanking you almost immediately.
For this recipe you will need:
.Isopropyl Alcohol(roughly a Tablespoon)
To Make:
Place your 3oz of Coconut Oil, .75oz Beeswax and 1oz of Hempseed Oil in a microwave safe container and melt in 30 secon burst until completely melted. A double boiler could also be used.
Next measure out your .15oz Menthol Crystals in a seperate container and cover with about 1 TBS of isopropyl alcohol. Heat for around 15 seconds so that the menthol crystals melt into the isopropyl alcohol.
Now pour your menthol crystal mixture into your base(hempseed, coconut oil and beeswax) and add in 20 drops each Marjoram and Eucalyptus and 5 drops Peppermint essential oil. Stir thoroughly to combine.
Pour your muscle rub base into a glass jar and let cool completely.
To Use:
Just scoop out a small amount of the muscle rub and rub into sore muscles. Be sure to avoid using around your eyes and wash your hands after applying.
You'll be amazed at how quickly this muscle rub starts to work. If you do try this recipe, leave a comment on what you thought of the muscle rub:)
