Did you know that most mouthwashes on the market contain ingredients like alcohol, triclosan and SLS that can actually be harmful to your health? These ingredients range the gamut from mouth irritation, being a carcinogen and negative impact on your hormone and reproductive health.
There are some mouthwashes out there that have clean ingredients but you can also easily make an all natural mouthwash at home. The recipe I like to use has simple natural ingredients in it, most of which you probably already have on hand and can be made in no time. DIYs don't have to be complicated to work:).
For this recipe you will need:
1 TSP Baking Soda
1TSP Salt
2 Cups Distilled Water
I chose to use Salt as it increases the PH Balance in your mouth, making for a more alkaline environment as bacteria thrive in acidic environments, the salt will help stop bacteria growth as well as help reduce plaque and inflammation.
Baking Soda also works to regulate the PH in your mouth and it cal also help remineralize the enamel of your teeth to help prevent tooth decay.
The essential oils used in the Thieves blend have antibacterial and antimicrobial properties so are great to support your oral health as well as the Peppermint essential oil aids in stopping bad breath.
To make, simply combine all of these ingredients together in a glass storage container and shake vigoursly to combine. Use daily after brushing to help support your over all oral health.
